POSITIONS

Warehouse Team Member 

Our Warehouse Team Employees are the key to our daily operations, You might be asked to portion or package bulk products, pack customer grocery baskets, clean our shipping baskets and isothermic bags, pick items from the refrigerated section of our warehouse or any other tasks we need to do to get our day done. 

Requirements:

  • Punctuality!
  • Good physical shape: ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs, walk 20 km per day and comfortable climbing ladders
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Pride in work completed and respect for food products being handled
  • Comfortable using an iPad, computer and software

Assets:

  • Experience in the food industry and in agriculture
  • Logistical and warehouse experience
  • Verbal and reading comprehension in English or French

Schedule

  • Full time, 1:00 am to 11:00 am, 40 hours/4 days per week - NIGHT SHIFT

Purchaser - Category Manager

The purchaser is responsible for the management of supplier relations and the onboarding of new products.

We are looking for specialists to manage the following categories:

  • Quebec fruit and vegetables;
  • Cheese, dairy and eggs;
  • Prepared foods.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of new products and suppliers aligned with the mission and vision of the company to optimize the product offerings in your respective category;
  • Price negotiations and sales forecasting;
  • Planning of promotional calendars and inventory management;
  • Validation of product and supplier descriptions in collaboration with marketing;
  • Monitoring sales and profitability results to ensure optimal performance of your categories.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration or equivalent;
  • Ability to work independently, be incredibly organized and plan strategically;
  • Devotion to quality and work well done;
  • Ability to develop sustainable supplier relationships based on mutual trust;
  • Strength and experience in negotiation;
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English (oral and written);

Full Stack Developer

Lufa Farms is looking to grow its Software Development department. The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for the development of applications to support our daily operations and our online sales platform. We are looking for someone to: 

  • Work as part of a team in order to build and deliver software
  • Translate requirements into conceptual designs and estimates
  • Design and architect a wide range of software including ERP and Ecommerce sites
  • Improve existing infrastructure to facilitate scaling out
  • Develop clean, maintainable code in a continuous integration environment
  • Actively contribute with constructive feedback to the team through code review
  • Develop high quality code using various methodologies such as TDD and Unit Testing
  • Stay up to date with the latest web development technologies
  • Use software that directly impacts the food industry

Requirements: 

  • 0-5 years experience with designing and developing highly scalable availability software for web applications or services
  • Experience with Agile development environment
  • Experience with programming languages such as PHP5+, JavaScript (ES6), HTML5, CSS3, SASS
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Familiar with MVC frameworks such as Yii and Lumen Laravel

Greenhouse Maintenance Technician

Conducts and improves the maintenance operations of our three rooftop greenhouses. It is a hands-on role that requires technical and applied knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (with a focus on irrigation systems). The ideal candidate is someone who can conduct our scheduled maintenance tasks, as well as identify and address mechanical failures of production equipment, structural/building deficiencies, and maintenance gaps.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conducts maintenance and repairs of greenhouses.
  • Performs scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Performs installations and repairs of irrigation systems (plumbing/PVC), horticultural equipment (such as electric carts), and electrical equipment (such as grow lights).
  • Performs basic carpentry, painting, and general repairs to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Organizes and manages spare parts inventory. Orders and handles reception of parts/supplies that are running low.
  • Assesses and minimizes the use of Third Party Contractors (TPCs) for repairs, negotiates related contracts, schedules TPCs when approved, and assists in the completion and inspection of on-site repairs.
  • Responds to and investigates the system alarms and emergencies.
  • Proactively addresses areas of concern to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots equipment, conducts repairs, modifications, and predictive/preventative maintenance on building and facilities equipment: glass panels, fans, pumps, plumbing fixtures, and hydroponic systems.
  • Good record keeping and organization of maintenance schedules and records.
  • Develops preventive maintenance procedures and methods of record keeping.
  • Regular communication with management on maintenance completed and new procedures proposed as needed.
  • Complies with established provincial and federal regulations.

Requirements: 

  • Prior experience as a mechanic maintaining and repairing equipment/facilities.
  • Must have experience and be able to perform PVC and plumbing repairs, basic electrical repairs, carpentry, and painting.
  • Experience with material handling and construction, advanced knowledge of power tools, operating various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments.
  • Must be available outside of normal hours during emergency calls and be reachable 24/7.
  • Adjusts to changing conditions and willingness to work off shift, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem resolution.
  • Must have a driver’s licence to travel between sites and pick up materials.

Assets:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience performing installations and repairs, including 2 years as a Facility Maintenance Mechanic, or the demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience at a commercial greenhouse or similar facility.
  • Genuine commitment to the company’s vision.
  • Proficiency in Google Apps (Google Sheets, Google Docs).
  • Experience in welding and the ability to operate welding tools.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic and one-line drawings.
  • Skyjack licence.

Warehouse Team Employee - Cleaning

This general position at Lufa Farms requires a candidate who is able to clean out reusable delivery boxes and refrigeration boxes. They will also be responsible for scanning and replacing boxes, as well as the general cleaning of our distribution centre.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams in a fast-paced and computerized environment;
  • Ability to work quickly and precisely under pressure;
